Church Attendance a Deterrent to Teen Sex

Teens are more likely to save sex until adulthood if their parents hold
strong religious beliefs and take them to church. The finding comes from an
unlikely source, the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, a secular
group known for pushing contraceptives. Bill Albert with the organization says
they found there is a connection between a teens’ faith and their sexual
practices.

It's good to know that even if your kids act like they gain nothing from church, SOME good may very well be coming from it.

It is positive encouragement. From the beginning of our role as parents, we have to remember to live and teach the faith to our children. It can be scary, (knowing our every action is teaching them something...) but it is our job.

And it looks as though it does benefit, after all.

Stephen,

I don't think the purpose of this post was to elaborate that your kids are safe as long as you throw them in a youth group. As a youth group leader personally I know that while managing a large group of 13-17 year olds, you aren't going to pound the proper info into every one there. But the above post highlights the fact that most kids do learn from religious youth groups. Why not increase your chances of your children growing into quality members of society.
