Messing with the Divine Plan- Choosing your baby's gender

There are more risks involved with this than I can list here. How sad that parents believe one gender is better than the other, and that they opt to ignore GOD'S plan for their family. It's like saying, "hey, I already have three girls..TRUST ME, another would be horrible! I am only accepting a boy...". That's basically what it is saying. And sure, one can argue that ALL expectant couples might comment on what they WISH they were having. The difference is- these couples are accepting what God has planned, be it their 7th boy or 1st.

Here's how it supposedly works:
Using techniques made possible by the discovery of the human
genome, eggs are removed from the mother after she undergoes fertility treatment
to multiply them and are fertilized with the would-be father's sperm in a
laboratory dish.
One of the cells in each embryo is then removed to allow
scientists to determine from its DNA whether the embryo is male or female,
before one of the desired gender is implanted into the mother's womb to
gestate.

Dr. Jeffrey Steinberg comments,
Would-be parents from territories such as China, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Germany, Britain and Canada are flocking to
Steinberg's Los Angeles and Arizona clinics.
"They come from everywhere that
it's banned by law," Steinberg said.

The thing is, this IS what China is doing, in a sense. Parents are saying one sex over the other is not good enough for them, and they don't want it. In fact, they are paying thousands of dollars to guarantee that they don't end up with the wrong-sexed kid. How sad. What if they change their minds half way through the pregnancy? Many couples start off wanting a boy, then change their hopes for a girl, and vice versa. So what would the couple do then? Undoubtedly this could cause an increase in abortions and child abandonment. Can you imagine the emotional and psychological problems that will arise from these situations?

It is such a horrible idea. Just because science and technology make something possible, doesn't mean we should make it allowable and definitely doesn't mean it is a good, healthy thing.
