What kind of Bug Spray do you use on your body?

I never used bug repellent on a regular basis. We don't own any. And yesterday we didn't put anything other than sunblock on our son (2 yr. old). MISTAKE. Today he has a large bug bite on his right elbow, his arm is hot and swollen and spotchy. :(
And to think I might've been able to prevent it...(sigh).

So now I'm on a mission to find the best bug repellent for my little one. I don't want one with DEET in it, though. I prefer chemical-free. Anyone want to tell me what they use? Do you make your own with baking soda? California Baby brand? Off? Coppertone? Burt's Bees?
I have to get something before we go to Myrtle Beach. I don't want a scare like this.

Oh, and if you could say a quick prayer for my son that his swelling goes down & everything, I'd appreciate it!

I found a few links that suggested rubbing alcohol and even an olive oil/water mix. Check it out here.

Thank you! I'm happy to report his arm is MUCH better. (although we did need the help of an anti-biotic)
