Baby Food-Make it or Buy it?

I know if you make it you're still buying the ingredients, but that's not what I mean. :) I mean do you buy jar Gerber-type food? Or make your own?
I am interested in making my own for this next baby. I have heard it's easy, freezing portions in ice-cube trays. And I love the idea of more nutritious foods w/o all the preservatives, etc.

Can you suggest a specific book on making baby food? I'm not looking for an exclusive vegan/vegetarian recipe one. We do eat meat. And we like it. lol. I'd like one with decent recipes and not too many hard-to-find ingredients. We're not in an area with many markets around-no Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. (I have hopes though!)

Ruth Yaron's Super Baby Food might be a great resource for you. I checked it out from the library. I actually just did nursing as long as possible and when baby started showing interest in food, I'd let him experiment with letting him try whatever we had (like cooked veggies, soups, little bites of things here & there) rather than with "baby food." He still mainly nurses and is 13 months, but does love veggies!

I don't buy baby food OR make it! I breastfeed (exclusively for at least 7-8 mths) and gradually give our family foods to baby as well as continuing to nurse.
