Recipe: Spicy Italian Chicken (slow cooker)

This is one of my favorite slow cooker recipes. It's part of this week's menu.

Makes 6 servings
1 med.-sized onion, chopped
1/2 cup fat-free Italian dressing
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. black pepper
6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. cold water

1. Spray inside of slow cooker w/ nonstick cooking spray. Combine all ingredients except chicken, cornstarch, and water in slow cooker.
2. Add chicken. Turn to coat.
3. Cover. Cook on low 4-5 hours.
4. Remove chicken and keep warm.
5. In saucepan, combine cornstarch & cold water.
6. Add cooking juices gradually. Stir and bring to a boil until thickened.
7. Pour sauce over chicken & then serve over noodles or rice.

*I have always prepared it w/o removing the chicken and doing steps 5-7. I add the water directly to the slow cooker and leave the chicken inside. It is yummy!
