What a Croc

I just heard on the news that the stimulus tax rebates will be mailed out according to the last 2 digits of your SSN. For us, that means we won't get it until June 27th. Nearly two months later than the initial mailings.

Nice, government people. Make us all file our returns by the same date, but don't show us the same courtesy with sending our rebates. I shouldn't be surprised.

Here is a link for the schedule mentioned above (if you can't view it below). It all stinks because of 2 random digits. Grrr.

Economic stimulus payments will be issued according to the last two-digits of the main filer's Social Security number. People who use direct deposit also will be among the first to receive the payments starting May 2. Paper checks will be put in the mail starting May 16.

DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits: Payment will be transmitted:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16

PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed by:
00 through 09 May 16
10 through 18 May 23

19 through 25

May 30
26 through 38 June 6
39 through 51 June 13
52 through 63 June 20
64 through 75 June 27
76 through 87 July 4
88 through 99 July 11

I'll have to pass this on to the hubby.. I can't remember his SS number, that's bad. Ha ha! Thanks for the info.

You're June 27th is looking good compared to our July 11th :)

How is the direct deposit determined? We opted for direct deposit with our tax returns...does that mean we automatically get enrolled in dd for this?? If so, I'm about to jump for joy!

We won't get ours till around July 4th!! I heard about this a while ago. I also heard something from my sister that it is going to have to be reported as "income" or its a "anticipated, early refund" from next year, or something like that?? not sure if it's true, but she heard it somewhere.

I'll give you a dollar if you can name five things the government has done sensibly this year.

hey, better than getting nothing back at all! but I agree, we all have to file by the same deadline! Oh well, we are very grateful for the money!!!!

Sue-you're definitely right. SOME money is better than none. I had just mistakenly believed ALL rebates were being mailed out come May, so long as your tax returned had already been filed.

ha ha ha ha, Stacey--:oD

Sharon--We somehow lucked out for once and will be getting ours direct deposited May 9th

PS) Hey, Sharona, make sure if you earn a buck from Stacey that you have her direct deposit it in early May--ha ha ha--maybe it can start making up for the croc of you know what ;o)

I find it funny that most of the people I know fall towards the bottom of that list with the last two digits of their SSN!

Wanna hear something funny? The last two digits of my SSN are 99!!! Ha!! Ugh.

I do somewhat understand why they are staggering the payments, though. An economic stimulus package will work better if the economy is stimulated (that's what she said) for a longer period of time, rather than all at once.

If you used direct deposit to get a refund from your 2007 taxes, then you will get your rebate via direct deposit as well. This does, however, extremely suck for those of us that had to pay taxes this year (rather than get a refund) AND whose SSN ends in 99, because the government doesn't have our direct deposit info. Double Ugh.

ok - this is bad but for us that means we are in the first round. I hear your frustration though. It is a very imperfect system.

I had seen the dates for the direct deposit, but not the paper checks. We'll be in the last week of the direct deposit. When these kinds of things have happened in the past, I go around calling DH "Mr. 84." LOL
