That's right, folks, I have entered this decade. ;)
For a while I've been joking with my husband, telling him I'm taking my Walkman with me on my walks. (no, I don't actually still own one). He surprised me by giving me my birthday/mothers day presents early last Monday. (the 5th...my actual b-day was the 8th).
It was adorable. He and Aidan came down the stairs, Aidan telling me to close my eyes. The smile on his face couldn't have been bigger. Aidan walked over to me and handed me the gift. I first saw jewelry that Aidan actually picked out for me himself. A necklace with 5 pair of earrings. Pat told me the story: they walked into Kohl's, and without any prompting from Pat, Aidan walked up to an employee and said "you have earrings for my momma?". Isn't that cute?! He truly chose my gift himself. This is the first time he has done so, and I tell you, it means so much to me.
Next I got a cute new summer handbag. Pat told me to open it. Being the smart man that he is, I found some chocolate inside. (which, uh, Aidan and I finished within minutes). There was something else wrapped in white paper-I had no clue. I opened it, and was so pleasantly surprised to find an i-pod! A nice little silver one. ;)
I know it's the thought that counts, but seriously, this is the best my husband has ever done in choosing a gift for me. (pat yourself on the back, Pat). I'm really enjoying it. I've taken it with me on my walk a few times already. Fun fun.
I've been buying songs, and I realized I am not that current with my music! Am I getting old? Or just out of touch? Maybe a little of both. Either way, I am finding some great music to keep me moving. My preferred walking path is between 3.6-4 miles, so I need a good hour's worth of music to keep me energized. Any suggestions?
My recent uploads include Feedback by Janet Jackson, Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna, Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) by Big & Rich, With You by Jessica Simpson, Hips Don't Lie by Shakira (one of my all-time favorite dance songs), Come on Eileen by Dexey's Midnight Runners, Canned Heat by Jamiroquai, and Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera.
What do you have on your i-pod? (I've been reading Greg's old post to see what he's listening to). Songs can energize, so give me some suggestions!
I plan to take my

How'd I forget!?
I DID download Smooth Criminal and 4 Minutes. I'm really impressed w/ Madonna's song. Love it.
I'll go listen to J-Lo's song.
Sharon,
I personally like anything by Jars of Clay. Have you ever heard their music?
aw what a great birthday! I personally need to update my ipod and change it to music(its got podcasts that I havent reall been listenin to, and I am going to start walking with Al when E's at school) but those songs all sound great!
Sarah,
Great suggestion! Thanks. I have heard of Jars of Clay. I like them. Actually, my dh has most of their CDs, so I guess I have them for free! lol
Which reminds me, I should also snatch his Third Day. Do you like them? They're another group I enjoy. :)
that is so sweet - I am happy for you:)
Awww, that is so sweet! Enjoy the new ipod-- as for songs...gosh, what type do you like? I have about 1000 songs on my Itunes right now, haha! Check out "Remember" Gabriel Mann, "Sweet and Low" Augustana, "Love Remains the Same" Gavin Rossdale..those are a few of my favorites lately :D
Congrats on your iPod! We love ours! (Eric has a 2 gb shuffle and I have a 30 gb video.)
There is such a great variety of music out there! I have around 1,000 songs on mine, plus then I have some TV shows, podcasts (This American Life is my favorite), and pictures on mine. Love it!
ok, I thought of more. Billy Squire has really good songs as well as the old Van Halen. Sometimes I think rock songs from the 70's are the best
to workout to.
Sharon how can you say you are getting old at 27 because you are not that current with your music. Music has no age, if music speaks to your heart it does not matter if it is new or old. Yesterday, the whole day I was listening Frank Sinatra. 10 years have been passed since his death. My Way is my favorite one. It is a beautiful song.
Other songs I would suggest are: Power of Love with Celine Dion, I Will Always Love You with Whitney Houston, Only You and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes with The Platters, Summertime with Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, The Way We Were with Barbara Streisand, Woman in love with Chimene Badi, the same song with Barbra Streisand, I think Chimene surpasses Streisand in this song, and finally my favorite for walking specially 4 miles Chariots of Fire by Vangelis.
I found your Blog by your favorite film A Beautiful Mind, which is also my favorite.
You have a very nice family. May God keep your family in good health.
Sorry for my English. I am from Athens Greece.

Woohoo!! I am so happy to hear that you got an iPod!! According to Pam Beesly, it will totally change the way you work out.
I LOVE mine! You can walk around with literally THOUSANDS of songs. Gone are the days of having to lug around hundreds of CDs.
Lately, I've taken all of the songs off of mine and replaced them with every episode of The Office! I also need to update my song library. I think the last song I downloaded was 4 Minutes.
And Sue, 70's Rock Songs are some of the best ever!
Thanks for posting this Sharon--now I'm in the mood to start browsing the iTunes library again!!
Yah ummm.. I don't have an ipod or anything. An I HATE smooth criminal.. you aren't my friend anymore. J/K!!! I'm jealous of your iPod.. I need to be cool and with it and get something. You know what I like that suicidal (bad name) song I think it's by Chris Brown?? Hmm!
I got an iPod for Mother's Day as well. I downloaded a bunch of Van Morrison, Bon Jovi, Diana Krall, and Van Halen. I also put on Come on Eileen as well (that's one of my ALL TIME FAVS). Reminds me of my days at Clemson. Anyway, I am in love with mine as well. Ahhhh....technology.
LOVE my video ipod, which my little brother gave me as a baby gift when Ittyboy was born.
Some of the tunes on my running playlist include: The Heart of Rock 'n Roll, Life is a Highway, Running on Empty, Black Horse & Cherry Tree, All Over the World (Xanadu), You're the One That I Want (Grease) and Dancing Queen.
iTunes is beyond addictive!
