It's hard to describe, but I came home feeling renewed. Maybe even a little energized.
Certainly more motivated--to keep our home tidy, start eating healthy again, be more patient.
Being with my husband & kids, with my family alone, was much needed. And not just being with them, but being with them without needing to worry about what I was going to cook for dinner, or answering the phone, or blogging, or getting the boys to bed so we could watch Last Comic Standing. All of the regular daily distractions were removed, allowing me to see my family for the great people they are.
It was truly great being able to wake up, then go outside in our pajamas so Aidan could play. Not even a neighbor was close enough for the need to worry about being in our pjs.
I just stepped outside with my coffee and watched Lightning McQueen run his race.
It was all so peaceful.
I hope this happier, more content-with-my-life feeling lasts. I'm off to a good start this week, and I don't want to have any setbacks.
Life feels better this way.
In feeling too cheesy, let me add that of course we ran into some obstacles on our trip.
Despite smothering Aidan in bug spray, he still wound up with a bug bite, causing him to swell. For the third time this summer he has to get an antibiotic for a big bite. We had a nice trip the Urgent Care center. Isn't that where every family wants to go on vacation?
Pat and Aidan also got sunburned. Not too bad, but decent.
I grew fond of ice cream all over again, seeing as we had it every night up there. The good stuff, too. Pat's grandma buys Haagen Dazs, and that was delicious.
Now I'm fighting an internal battle, trying to convince myself that I'm not hungry, and I don't want something sweet.
The bad things weren't so bad, thankfully. I just felt like I was getting too cheesy.
Of course I have a few more pictures. These just didn't flow well with my other two posts, so I'm just adding them here. My conclusion concludes with even more photos. ;)
Our attempt at a family photo. It didn't turn out well, but I found it to be funny.

Your family is so beautiful Sharon. I wish we lived closer. =(
Wow... that stinks about the bug bite for Aidan. I didn't realize he got that bad. I hate bugs!
I think we all fee rejuveniated after getting a well needed and a well deserved vacation. You guys will have your hands full this fall with Pat starting school. I always feel rejuve after the weekend IF we didn't go crazy doing things.
HOw's the house hunting going?
did Pat get his eyebrow's waxed? they look very shapely.
Sue-
No, Pat didn't get his eyebrows waxed. He's just annoying w/ naturally nice-shaped eyebrows.
Actually once at Great Clips they thought it was his norm to trim his brows, but he never touches them!
What's sickening is to know that if we ever had a daughter, she wouldn't be so lucky.
