We are more rude today than decades past!

According to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll, people are ruder than they were 20 or 30 years ago.

(see article- http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/14/poll.rude.ap/index.html)

I knew it wasn't just me!
Unfortunately, you do not have to look very far to see evidence of rudeness.
It's everywhere- from the car next to you on the road, to the person in line at CVS, and even the people in the church cry room!

I know I am old-fashioned, but how can good manners be outdated?
It irks me beyond belief that modern society accepts such behavior, finds it to be funny and entertaining, and even encourages it.

As a parent, I find this to be discouraging, and a BIG WARNING sign that my job will have to be done a little more creatively, more consistently, and more patiently as I try to raise my child to be one with manners.

Once again, what is so wrong with hanging up the phone so you can politely greet the cashier who is ringing you up- or wave to the car that let you in line when you didn't merge- or saying thank you to the mail carrier?!
