Detroit's Soundtrack

I found this to be quite entertaining since I live in the area.
I'm sure fellow Michiganders will get a good laugh, too!
Tracks 6 & 7 were my favorite!

These
days, soundtracks are more ubiquitous than Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson
break-up rumors.
Like a virus, they have spread beyond movies to infect
stores, television shows and even video games. (Starbucks has a soundtrack; so
do all the "Grand Theft Autos" -- and there are at least a dozen versions of
that video game, right?)

Not to be outdone, we thought we would give the fine
city of Detroit its very own soundtrack. Titled "Detroit: The soundtrack --
Sounds of City," this mock compilation best matches the songs with the people
and things that make Motown what it is.
From a catty mayoral race to Coney
Islands to a bad-luck quarterback, Detroit is a city full of attitude, spice and
humor. Here are the tunes to prove it.

1. Detroit mayoral race
(incumbent Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick vs. former Deputy Mayor Freman Hendrix): "Mama
Said Knock You Out," LL Cool J
2. Backup Detroit
Lions quarterback Joey Harrington: "Loser," Beck

3. Longtime Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson: "Mr. Big
Stuff," Jean Knight
4. Detroit councilwoman and
perennial mayoral candidate Sharon McPhail: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not
Going," Jennifer Holliday

5. Coney Islands: "Ring
Of Fire," Johnny Cash
6. Metro Detroit roads:
"Bounce With Me," Bow Wow
7.Michigan economy:
"Going Down," Don Nix

8. Retiring Detroit City
Council President Maryann Mahaffey: "Respect," Aretha Franklin

9. Owner of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and Little
Caesars empire, Mike Ilitch: "Everybody Wants To Rule The World," Tears For
Fears
"
