3 Blissful Years

My husband and I just celebrated our third wedding anniversary! :) June 21, 2003, we married and began our life together as one. It's hard to believe it's already been three years, and at the same time it feels like it's been longer.

I can still remember everything so clearly. Getting up at 5:30 to shower and be at my hair apt. By 7:00 (yes, that early!). Then rushing to have my make-up done, and be at the church by 9:30 for pictures. It was a beautiful day. Sunny, only a few clouds, a light breeze, and surprisingly, not too humid. My entire family was there- all 7 siblings, all nieces and nephews but one, and extended family. It was so wonderful to have so many people we love right there with us for the entire day.

And my Dad...Oh my Dad. He cried and hugged me like never before. It was the sweetest thing and still gives me goosebumps. Having him walk me down the aisle was the icing on the cake.
And my parents couldn't be happier with my husband being a part of our family. Aside from the "usual"- similar backgrounds, same religion, same dreams, etc.- my husband was courteous enough to ask my father's permission. While this may seem out-dated to most, it meant a lot to me, and more than that to my folks. It shows a great sign of respect. Plus, my hubby was the only son-in-law to ask them ahead of time. Bonus points for me! (j/k.....)

We had a wonderful reception. We danced our first dance to Shawn Colvin's song, When You Know. Our bridal party danced to Sara Evans version of I Could Not Ask for More. We cut our cake to Harry Connick Jr.'s Recipe for Love. It was just perfect. (there were some issues to be handled, but it didn't ruin our day). Our last dance we danced to Etta James- At Last. Each time I hear one of those songs now, it makes me smile and brings me back to our wedding day.

With our wedding being at 11:00, we had an early reception- 1:00. It was a blast. It ended by 6:00, and we had the evening to ourselves. It was great. We stayed downtown at the Hyatt, and everyone congratulated us. We were so exhausted, I think we were asleep by 11:00! But that was fine because we had an early flight the next day.

We went to 7:30 a.m. Mass, and then we caught our first flight of many, our destination: Kauai, Hawaii! We had 2 layovers and over 20 hours of flying time. AAAGGGHHHH! It was exhausting. And it's not like we had first class or anything. Oh, and once we finally arrived in Kauai, we found out they lost our luggage! It took almost 24 hours for us to get it back.
We spent one week in Kauai, and one week in Maui. It was seriously the best time of my life.

And then a month later we got pregnant. :) We've been blessed.
In 3 years, we've moved three times, each had 3 different job positions, gone through 3 different cars, 2 pregnancies (one living and one miscarriage), traveled for many weddings and holidays, and grown closer and more in love with each other. While I feel we've had more bad times than good, more "poor" than rich, I also believe that the best is yet to come.

How wonderful, it will be six years for myself and my husband this August.

Argh.... early wedding, true about having the evening for yourselves.

I had a 2:30 reception and it was over by 9pm. Too much to drink when we got to apartment... err honeymoon suite.

The wedding goes by so fast and takes up so much energy.

People talk about marriageconcerning settling down, but it seems we've accomplished so much in the time frame.
