Pregnancy Diet

Alright, moms. Would you please share with me what you feel is a good, healthy diet during pregnancy? Other than prenatals...which I find to make me feel so sick!

My first child was very healthy at birth (still is), but he was small. He was actually right in line with my husband and his siblings as far as birth weight goes, but I felt very embarrassed about it at first. I was expecting a bigger baby. lol.

Diet has always been kind of a struggle for me. Not necessarily the weight aspect, but having the knowledge to eat what is actually healthy. I am very interested in your replies and ideas! Please share. :)

Hi my name is Lillian I am now 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and I have been diagnosed with diabetes. I am on a special diet to keep my glucose low but this could also work for you too. I have to count my carbs I am allowed 15g-30g at breakfast and my snacks and 60g at lunch and 65-70g at dinner. I stay away from soda and a lot of milk or juice at one sitting, I do drink them it doesn't seem to do much to my readings so I don't stay away I know that they are good for me and the baby. At first I thought that this diet was going to be hard but I have found that really I can't even eat as much as they want me to sometimes so it really isn't just start counting and see what track your on. I was overwieght when coming in to this pregnancy but as of today I have only gained 3 pounds and as of the last ultra sound I have a healthy 7lb 4oz boy. This may even help you stay away from having any problems with gestational diabetes?

I found the book: Nutrition for a Healthy Pregnancy - very helpful! Our local library even had a copy! It even gives you a grocery list, recipes, etc. I felt it really helped me during my last pregnancy, and it goes on to give advice for diet while nursing, after baby is born, too.

Oh... you're asking what we SHOULD eat, not what we did eat.

Sorry, got nothing for ya there. :)
