British Psychologists: Abortions Cause Women Mental Health Problems
"Research published in The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in January has shown that even women without past mental health problems are at risk of psychological ill-effects after abortion," they say.
"Women who had had abortions had twice the level of mental health problems and three times the risk of major depressive illness as those who had given birth or never been pregnant," they say."This research has prompted the American Psychological Association to withdraw an official statement denying a link between abortion and psychological harm," the mental health leaders add. "This research has prompted the American Psychological Association to withdraw an official statement denying a link between abortion and psychological harm," the mental health leaders add.
Not that abortion would ever be a better option than adoption, but doesn't this common finding among psychiatric studies keep reaffirming what we already knew? Abortion is never a good answer. We are learning more and more how it is not only harmful to the baby. Read what it's doing to the mothers!

I am glad they are doing more research about this and wish it were discussed more in depth with women before they have the procedure. I have a friend that told me of her abortion experience and it's something that has tormented her for the rest of her life.
Yes, I know a few people that have experienced similar. The trauma that comes with it is devastating. I can't even magine.
There seems to be some hope in the article I read. "The American Psychological Association has been prompted to withdraw an official statement denying a link between abortion and psychological harm"...I hope it's a pwerful enough of a statement. And I hope these women listen to it.
I have heard that there are similar studies about fathers grief too over an aborted child. It hurts everyone involved and there is plenty of evidence to support it.
PB-you also mention a good point.
It's so sad that many fathers are not even aware of their unborn babies.
I remember driving through Chicago this year and seeing a billboard for fathers' rights. Why the law does not require BOTH parents' consent to this is beyond me. Our "rights for women" would only be fair if it was not taking away from men and babies. (which of course it is not)
