In Honor of Today

Fall 1999: October, to be exact. I was 19 and went to Ireland (Republic) for 10 days. 10 perfect, drinking, glorious days! I felt so lucky that one of my biggest dreams came true at the young age of 19. My memories of that time are some of my best, and in honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd share that time with you all.

The song is by Lunasa, an Irish group I discovered while in Cork. LOVE it! Listen to the music while looking at the pictures for the "full effect". ;)

Below: Ireland's Call. Of course! Guinness for Strength, right?

Below: Following Ireland's Call. This was in Dublin. Great drinks, great times.

Below: Dingle Peninsula, my most favorite place of all. This was the hostel where we stayed. It was so cool. Ballintaggart was the name.
Below: Grounds around Ballintaggart. Isn't it just the epitome of Ireland?! :) Below: Getting ready to go horseback riding in Dingle. As a result of me being inexperienced at this, I actually broke my finger while riding. Yup, that hurt. The dang horse scared me as he wandered near the cows! Plus, There isn't that handle to hold on to, and fear kicked in when they started galloping. Apparently I slipped my fingers under the saddle. Hence, the broken finger.

Below: A scenery shot of where we were riding. Isn't it beautiful?

Me on the scary-horse. (left)
Finally, a shot of Dingle. (actually a postcard). Can you see Murphy's on the right? We spent many hours in that place. Great live music, wonderful people-I was ready to stay there!
Thanks for letting me share. :) I would love to go back one day. If you've never been, I highly recommend it!

Oh, I love, love, love this post! It is perfect for St. Patty's Day and makes me want to go to Ireland soooooo bad! The closest I've ever been is being a cocktail waitress at Connolly's Irish Pub! Ha ha ha! I did love being around all of the Irish people every day, though--Especially one little leprechaun (an Irish dwarf) who ran around a cop saying, "Oink, oink, oooiiiinnnk!" Good times!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! When I went to Austria, the one place I HAD to visit was Ireland and I got there-- I was 19 when I went there, also in October...how weird is that?

Anyway, I put up some Ireland pics on my blog and I think we visited some of the same places. I LOVED Dingle and Ennis, did you get there?

Yay for being Irish!! :D

Awesome post! I know like 3 couples that are planning trips to Ireland within the next 2 months. We are not so lucky.

Also, the words in this post have reminded me that I'm not yet grown-up.
