Phew! It's always nice to go on a trip, and it's always nice to come home again.
We returned home yesterday afternoon from a nice trip to Milwaukee.
What is in Milwaukee, you might ask? (other than the awesome Safe House restaurant and Miller Brewery).
One of my best friends, Alison!
It's crazy to think I've known Alison for 11 years now. Crazy. Time sure flies.
We met our freshman year of college; we lived on the same dorm floor. We were both also Education majors, so we were in many of the same classes.
We became fast friends, we've been in each others' weddings, and now we've finally met each others' kids! Well, Alison had met Aidan many times before, but I had never met her adorable daughter, and she had never met Brennan.
The drive to Milwaukee is always exciting because we go right through Chicago. We didn't make the stop at Navy Pier this time around, but we still enjoyed the scenery. Aidan & Brennan especially enjoyed the Metra (city passenger train), announcing "train!!!!!!" every time they saw it. That's a lot in Chicago.
We arrived in Milwaukee Thursday night, and over the long weekend we went to the park, grilled out delicious food (they spoiled us with great food), and Alison was kind enough to make a homemade lemon cheesecake for Pat's birthday on Friday. Yum!Aidan adored Suzanna (Alison's daughter), Pat & Bart got along well (Alison's husband), and Alison & I had some good old girl fun! We did some shopping, some hair stuff, attempted to watch a chick flick...long overdue fun.
Poor Brennan was all out of sorts being in a new place around new people. He kind of had an attitude problem most of the trip, but I think he was feeling anxious. Poor guy. We realized that by the time Aidan was Brenna's age, he had traveled much more, and was consistently around a lot of people since we were still living in Michigan. Brennan seems very happy to be back home, in his crib with his toys.
We all did have a great time, and here are a few pictures to show for it:
Suzanna, Aidan & Brennan
Suzanna was great about sharing her toys (giving Brennan a shovel at the sand park)
4th of July parade...awesome German music men
Aidan happily sharing his candy w/ Suzanna (he was great with her)
Bart, Alison's brother, & Pat playing some ladder ball
Meanwhile, Alison & I did face masks. These particular masks were lousy, but still fun!
A-ha! We ate at The Safe House, and I saw that Corbin Bleu had been there!!!!
Brennan the night before we left, running around having a good time

Yay! I'm glad you all had a great time and it looks like it was warmer there than it was here. LOL. See? Summertime is awesome!
