His 1st Tee-Ball Season!

Brennan finished his very first season of t-ball: 4 year old t-ball through our city's summer rec program.

He LOVED it! And bias-aside, he was adorable. 

When he'd get the ball in the outfield, no matter where I was or where the ball was supposed to be going, Brennan would run to me and proudly yell "MOM! I got the ball!". All surrounding parents would chuckle & say "he's so cute".

Summer Vacation: Week 2

This summer is flying by compared to last summer. Amazing what the morning sickness did to me last summer!

We're enjoying our time together (for the most part;), and I hope my boys are having a fun summer. Week 2 for us:

Week 2 was busy & fun.

Week 2 also had with it Story Time at the library for Brennan, a playdate at a park for Aidan, and Cillian's 4-month check-up. The lil' cutie weighed in at 13 pounds, 1 ounce (not quite 4 months at the time). The doctor was pleased, telling me most babies gain 1/2 ounce per day, and Cillian had been gaining a full ounce. :) That's my boy! The nurse was also amazed that he has never had a bottle. She made me feel pretty good about our exclusive breastfeeding.

Thursday we hit the road for Myrtle Beach! Stay tuned for week 3's post. :)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

It was quite the crowd gathered for the final game of the 5/6 year old Tee-Ball Team.

1st bat at 7:30, each inning ending only after each kid has had a turn at bat.

Aidan's Marmar & Buppa came in from Michigan to watch the game.
Each player at bat was announced and introduced.
Following the game, certificates and trophies were awarded.

Following that, we had our own personal celebration at Hershey's Ice Cream.

It was a great night.

A little note to Aidan: (if he ever reads this blog when he is older, which I hope!)
Aidan,
You have grown so much this season. You last played tee-ball when you were 4 years old, and at that time, you were more focused on playing in the dirt and attempting to build sandcastles when in the outfield. 
You had attempts at bat, but it didn't often result the way you wanted.


Fast forward 2 summers, and playing as a 6 year old, you are focused. You play the game well. You work hard at bat, and let me say, you've had some good hits! We're proud of you.
Even in the outfield you impressed us. You watched where the batter would send the ball, and you'd go for it. Being the sweetheart that you are, if you got the ball first, you'd often pass it off to another kid so he or she could toss it back to the "coach" assisting the batter. 
It was fun to watch you play, to see how much you've grown.
I hope you enjoyed this tee-ball season. 
We certainly enjoyed watching you.

Play Ball!

It's tee-ball time!
One of the things I love about our town is their Summer Rec program. They offer a lot for the kids, and it's all very reasonably priced. Not to mention less than a mile away! :)

Aidan is trying tee-ball again this summer (he played when he was 4). His BFF from school is playing on the same team. Fun!
The only semi-annoying thing is that the games are Mondays & Thursdays, 8:30-9:30 in the morning.
Now yes, my boys are always up hours before then, but being awake & being up and ready to be out are two different things.
But hey, it beats playing in the miserable sun & heat like we did last summer for Soccer Basics.

It's very informal (tee-ball). In fact, they don't even have practice-it was one day (field clinic), and games twice a week. The final game is the evening game "Under the Lights". Phew!
As long as he is having fun, it's all good. :)

Final Tee-Ball Game!

It's hard to believe Aidan's tee-ball season is over & done with already!

This was his first official sports experience, and it was a good one. We truly live in a great town with an equally great community.

His coaches were patient and good with all the kids, and he always had a good time.

True, he continued to spend more time in the outfield playing in the dirt, but hey, he had fun, and that is what we cared about most. He did still learn the basics of the game. Each time he put on his tee-ball uniform, he was just beaming. Adorable.

We were all so pleasantly surprised by this one & only evening game. Being the last game, they made a big deal out of it. They had all players line up, they announced their names over the PA, and then they sang The National Anthem! No joke. It was so stinking cute.

One of the high school girl employees actually sang the National Anthem through the microphone. I know it was only tee-ball for 4-year-olds, but I still got goosebumps and choked up.

Of course, being 4-year-olds, the players really had no clue as to what was going on.

The game was played, and they announced every player at bat. In between plays they even did song tidbits...just like at a real game. The kids were oblivious to it all; the parents all chuckling.

At the end of the game they did the "Good Game" hand fives, then again to our surprise, they each received a trophy and certificate! The look on Aidan's face was just priceless. He was so proud and happy, and his smile couldn't have been bigger. His trophy is proudly displayed in his room now. (The night he received it, he slept with it)

The final game was made even more special by having Pat's parents & niece come down for it. (Mercy came with pom-poms to cheer...too cute!) We all went out after for ice cream to celebrate. It was a pretty good time. (Despite Brennan being sick and Aidan getting sick.)

Play Ball!

Great times were had today as we watched Aidan's first tee-ball game!
I don't think there's a cuter sight than eight 4-year-olds playing tee-ball. They start off excited, then within 10 minutes seem to find picking up the rocks/pebbles to be much more fulfilling. It's hilarious to watch. Cute.

Batting was Aidan's strength....being in the outfield, not so much. He has a game every Wednesday morning over the next few weeks. I'm sure I'll be posting on this again! I look forward to seeing how he progresses.
