Weekend Fun

Shopping, boating, & games, oh my!
That sums up our weekend. We had a nice time enjoying our last "free" weekend before Patrick starts his classes.Saturday we headed about two hours north to my oldest brother's house. He and my sister-in-law have a boat with a private neighborhood lake. It's a nice clean beach, and always offers a great time. Not to mention Joe & Tina are always a blast; they are forever young at heart.

It had been two years since we were on their boat. Way too long! In fact, it has been about a year & a half since visiting them at their home- the last visit was when I was still pregnant with Brennan, the weekend I went into the hospital for 5 days with kidney stones. (oh how much fun that was). It was nice to be able to visit them in their neck of the woods for a change.

We arrived Saturday afternoon with gorgeous weather. Picture perfect. We didn't delay in getting on the boat.
Aidan was comfortable immediately; Brennan, not so much. In fact, he freaked out and screamed until we started playing You Can't Touch This by M.C. Hammer. (thanks to Kyle & his i-pod!) That was enough to soothe Brennan to sleep. First time on a boat, and he still falls asleep to M.C. Hammer. Okay....

Patrick had a great time beating himself up tubing. He alternated turns with Kyle, Joe & Tina. I've never gone tubing myself, but I always enjoy watching them try to get the other one off the float first.Aidan didn't actually swim in the lake, but he went out briefly on the float while we were idle. He felt like such a big kid-being in his own float. (notice Pat has beer with him;)
After being out there for a few hours ourselves, we went back to the beach and found my 3rd oldest brother waiting with his family. Aidan was so excited to see Michelle!
Pat and I took advantage of my sisters-in-law watching Aidan & Brennan, and we went back on the bat with Joe, Randy, Sarah, and Ryan and Michelle. More tubing and boating made for a great time out in the sun.
After the beach we went to Joe & Tina's house. The kids were settled and playing nicely, so the "grown ups" played some games: Oh Hell, Taboo, and Catch Phrase. Lots of fun! I especially enjoyed it, having been raised in quite the competitive family. I was amused when my nephew (Kyle) decided everyone should target me when I was winning in Oh Hell. I guess it sort of worked, since I lost. (Pat won)

Taboo always has been & always will be a favorite of mine. We played girls against boys, with the girls winning, of course. ;)

I wish we could see everyone more often! It was a great time and nice break from the usual weekends at home.

I hope you had a great weekend, too!
Oh, and I'll be making a post soon about my amazing shopping find for the boys. :)

Sounds like you had a great time! I'm jealous.

I'm happy to hear that Aidan was comfortable on the boat--and that he was wearing a life vest. When I was his age and living up in Connecticut, I fell into the water without a vest from the dock. I sunk like a rock and luckily my dad was in there right after me.

Tubing is extremely fun!! I take pride in my boat-driving abilities and I am proud to say that nobody has ever stayed on the tube when I'm at the helm.

Sadly, my family didn't get to take our usual week up at the lake this year. :(
