Happy Birthday to One of My Favorite People!

And that's no sarcasm!

Happy Birthday, Sue!!

I'm skipping the mushy stuff (you know how I feel anyway...you drive me insane, you're my best friend, yadda yadda yadda)

Instead of posting pictures of you (since I know how much you love that), I decided to post some things that make me think of you. Awww...aren't I nice?

Oh yes, let's kick it off with The Backstreet Boys. My older sister convinced me to go with her to see them in concert, when I was in college. I can't deny that we had a great
time. She screamed. She cried. She hurt my ears. She had fun.
Next up: one of her true loves:
But since I just don't see the flare in Edward Norton, I'm moving on to her real true love. Maybe not so much in looks, but definitely in talent:
May he rest in peace.
He certainly was one of the most incredible dancers. I'll bet you today, he's twirling GW around, dancing for your birthday.

If I was there, I'd treat you out to lunch, filling you a nice styrofoam cup full of crushed ice and regular Coke.
I'd top it off with some Raisinettes for dessert. :)

Since I'm not there, I sure hope someone else steps up to the duty!

I sincerely hope you have a wonderful birthday. You deserve it.

Christmas Post #1: The Polar Express

It's not the first thing we did on our Christmas trip to South Carolina, but it's the first thing I'm posting about & sharing pictures. :)

It was a good 2+ hour drive from my parents' house to The Polar Express. It was a gorgeous drive through the mountains, despite ear-pressure changes. The weather was fitting, feeling about as cold as it was in Ohio.

The staff truly did a great job. We boarded and shortly after received hot chocolate and a chocolate-marshmallow Santa. The soundtrack from the movie was playing.
After some time Santa himself got on the train and visited! He kindly gave mini bells to each child, followed by the staff handing out song sheets with Christmas Carols.
We sang, they dimmed the lights, we railed past some nicely decorated homes, and then headed back to the station.

The kids seemed to enjoy themselves and it really was fun.
That being said, I don't think it was the worth the price they charged. My opinion is that it was overcharged by as much as $30.

Seeing as Aidan got sick the next day, I am glad we went. At least he has that fun memory from our trip!

Here are some other pics I like from that day:

Scrooge in Disguise?

She claims to have all this Christmas spirit within her.
Already plastering artificial snow around her house, displaying wreaths and other such decor, she is attempting to make us believe she is a Christmas lover.

But is she?

I call her bluff.

She recites lines from many Christmas/holiday movies. In fact, tonight she will be watching The Family Man. That's great. Fine & dandy.

But ask her who George Bailey is, and she can not say. WHY?!
Because, my readers, Ms. Scrooge-in-Disguise has never seen It's a Wonderful Life. EVER.

Tsk tsk tsk.

Hop to it, Sue. Before you get your real first snowfall this year, you better have watched It's a Wonderful Life. Or forever to me, you will be Scrooge in Disguise.

Go on now. Do the right thing. Go meet George Bailey and Clarence. Tour Bedford Falls.

For Haleigh & Sue

Another school year has ended, and another award has been given.

Oops...did I say award?
I meant awards. (as in 5)

That's right.
My niece/goddaughter Halei
gh has completed the 3rd grade, going out with a bang. You can read all about it at Sue's blog-as Haleigh's mom, she did a great job describing the awards Haleigh received and what each one means. Oh, and let me add here that Haleigh earned five awards. This girl is so rockin' awesome, that if she was close to 16, I'd want to buy her a car!

Because I have the digital camera and help on hand to scan the pictures, (thanks to my hubby), I thought I'd share some of those special pictures of Haleigh. She has grown so much - not only physically, but mentally and emotionally, as well.

To know Haleigh is to gain a blessing. How on earth God chose to bless our families with Haleigh, I will never know. I am just grateful that He did. This is for you, Haleigh & Sue. You two have worked so hard together to achieve so much. You should be proud of yourselves.
Congratulations, Haleigh!

Dang. I don't know the 80's that well!

I saw this quiz on Malcolm's blog & thought I'd do well. My cocky little self started it thinking I'd score at least 80%. Wrong! Dead wrong. Pathetically, I only scored 25%. I'm embarrassed, because I thought I knew my 80's stuff pretty well. I suppose the 90's really were more my time for music & pop culture.

I'm sure my sister would so much better, as she introduced me to all things 80's.
And hey, if any of you DO take it, tell me the correct answers! The results don't offer that info. (& ya know, I'm too lazy to look it all up right now;)

You Scored 25% Correct

You know some 80s stuff
Like that Paula Abdul was a star back then
But you're not sure who Suzie Q was
And you don't know what Samantha Fox was really famous for!

Meet 'Mediocre Girl'

*Bumping so she gets more love! Get over there!*

I'm totally psyched. Know why? (said in a sincere Aidan voice)

My sister started her own blog!
Yay! She's my "older sister" & one of my favorite people.
Head on over to Mediocre Girl & giver her some bloggy love. :) I eagerly await more of her posts. She is a unique mind, for sure.
