A to Z...I'm a Copycat

I clicked over to my good friend Bethany's blog today, and she did this fun little A to Z post.
Acknowledging that imitation is a form of flattery ;), I copied Bethany and did one, too.

B. Bed size: Queen, though I'm ready for a King. Never thought I'd want a King, but add in a few kids, and I'd happily take it!

You're Gonna Miss This...Moment

I sure am!
I saw this on Amy's blog & thought "how sweet! Surely I have many moments like this".
And I do.
I followed Amy's link to Pam's blog, the home of this meme. I like the positive thinking it involves. :)
My 2 boys riding around like wild cowboys on their "Beep-Beeps". This is a regular occurrence, but as you can see, Aidan is really too big for his. Heck, he got it for his FIRST birthday!
They have so much fun on these, though. Taking the turns of the house, testing new moves, crashing into each other...
The noise involved when they are on these drives me nuts, but I will miss the laughter I get to hear, too, and the smiles I get to see.

That's Me Thursday~Golden Girls Edition!!

Thank you for being a friend....travel down the road & back again...
I think this is my favorite by far! I got so excited to see their smiley picture when I headed over to The Classy Closet this morning.

I watched this show growing up. My mom and I would watch it, eating our chocolate bar, laughing at inappropriate parts. Great stuff!

Hmmm....am I a Sophia? Blanche? Dorothy? Rose?

Off the bat I nix Rose. Loved her sweet character, but for one, I am no animal lover, and the main reason is I'd like to think I have more common sense than that.

Sophia~amazing little spicy thing! (what would Bruno Tonioli say about her? Can you imagine? lol) I can be slightly evil tricky, but I don't think I measure up to the craftiness of this little lady.

That leaves us with Dorothy and Blanche.
Normally I'd have to say I'm Dorothy. Always analyzing, trying to be very practical, and so on.
Nice woman, a little dull, but nice.

Not me lately, though.
Lately I've found my wine goggles and without giving TMI, let's just say I am Blanche. ;)
Blanche was always in the mood, if you catch my drift. ;)
I wish I was as well taken care of physically as she is. Maybe one day.

So That's ME! Which Golden Girl are YOU?
Join in this Thursday fun over at The Classy Closet.

That's Me Thursday~Which One are You?

2nd week running for this meme at The Classy Closet, and I'm having fun with it.I'm certainly not the tan one. Ha!
Blonde? Yeah, but it's not all me for this week.

Who am I??
This week it's a toss up between the Grumpy One and one who gets-things done (which I didn't see one for, so I'm adding:).

I don't want to be grumpy, but things made me grumpy this week. Bugs inside my inside-nasty ones, too-millipedes, spiders, ants. YUCK.
The dumpster was finally removed from 0ur driveway, but they did a sloppy job and left crap in the driveway, including old nails. Thanks to them. I certainly don't have a metal detector to clean up to ensure my sons' safety. GRRRR!!

Trying on clothes made me grumpy. Weight gain? Grumpy. Non-sleeping children? You guessed it...grumpy!

I do have a lot to be grateful for this week, but from the above list, I'm The Grumpy One.

Which one are you?

Tagged!

Vicki tagged me for the Monday Meme.
How does Wednesday sound? (oops) Thanks for the tag, Vicki. :)

Snatching from Vicki's blog:
According to the rules, I have to post six things that make me really happy... and pass it on to give six more people a reason to be thankful!

Alrighty. 6 things that make me happy:
1.) Going on scenic drives with my husband.
2.) Chocolate. I know, I know, but it does. Especially the plain Hershey's bar. Instant happiness.
3.) Bedtime with Aidan. I love that time with just him, reading him a story, doing bedtime prayers, hearing about his day and snuggling. That makes me happy.
4.) Coffee in the morning. God bless my husband, because he makes it for me in the morning, and some days (like today) he'll even pour me some in my travel mug. Good man.
5.) The fact that I am nearly finished my Christmas shopping. All I have left to do for Aidan & Brennan is their stocking stuffers.
6.) Jazzercise. Ok, maybe corny, but I really enjoy the class-type exercise, the music, and the time away from home (just me). I'm horrible exercising on my own, and Jazzercise is something I've really been enjoying. (thanks to Pat for the Christmas present!:)

I could write more than 6 things. At the moment, these are what come to mind. I'm always thankful for family & friends, of course. :)

Now I'm supposed to tag 6 people. I'm asking these 6 to play along:
1.) Andrea
2.) Jen
3.) Sue
4.) Crystal
5.) Bethany
6.) Hyperactive Lu

Let's have it, girls! :)

Manic Monday

This is my momentary sanity break. Join me. (Manic Monday found here)

What is the most useful gift you’ve ever been given?
Tough question. I want to say my family. If we're supposed to name an actual physical object we've been given, I'd go with the plant ticket to Europe for a semester. I learned so much about myself that semester, traveled to many different countries, and made some amazing memories. I could have never done it without my parents giving me that plane ticket.

Name the most terrifying moment of your life so far.
Either post-partum after Aidan was born, when I was having some pretty scary thoughts, or when I was having my miscarriage. In the one instance, I was scared of myself. The other, my body scared me.

One hot summer afternoon, while walking through a parking lot at a large shopping center, you notice a dog suffering badly from the heat inside a locked car. What would you do?
I'm not a pet-lover, but I would probably go to Mall Security or Customer Service w/ the license plate number. Hopefully the owner would get paged and tend to the dog.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're week is off to a good start. :)

Me and My First Baby Meme

Thanks to Andrea for the tag. :)

Me & My First Baby Meme

1. Were you married at the time? Yup.

2. What were your reactions when you found out you were pregnant? I was somewhat in disbelief, since it was only 6 weeks after our wedding. I freaked out, but soon enough got excited.

3. How old were you? 23. I turned 24 3 weeks after Aidan was born.

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? I just had a feeling. I went to CVS and bought several HPTs. I tested when I wasn't even late yet, and got a Positive right away. Plus we were charting using the sympto-thermal method of NFP, so I had a feeling looking back at my chart. It's all the fault of some blush wine. ;)
5. Who did you tell first? My husband, then actually I think his sister on the phone. Then probably my brother and sil, Erin, since they were visiting us.
6. Did you want to find out the sex? Definitely. Even waiting 20 weeks felt too long to know!

7. Due due: First they thought April 28, then April 19 (2004).

8. Did you deliver early or late? Exactly one week early, on April 12, 2004. Aidan was born on Easter Monday!
9. Did you have morning sickness? YES. :( Morning sickness is ridiculous. If we have to grow another person inside of us, God should at least eliminate morning sickness! It lasted around 4 months for me. Stinking morning sickness prevented me from making it to Jen's wedding.
10. What did you crave? Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. Not too much, or too often.
11. Who irritated you the most? Some of my co-workers, and one student's parent in particular. She was trying to be helpful, but bringing me everything known to man to cure morning sickness annoyed me after a while.
12. What was your first child's sex? Male.
13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 35.
14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Towards the end. I had high blood pressure and had to stop work a week earlier than planned. Nothing major, thankfully. 15. Where did you give birth? At a great hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. It was a great experience.

16. How many hours were you in labor? Yikes, don't know the exact amount. It started around 10:00 (AM) on Easter Sunday, and he was born at 1:28 the next day. (PM)
17. Who drove you to the hospital? Pat, my husband.

18. Who watched? Pat and his mom.
19. Was it vaginal or c-section? Vaginal.

20. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Heck yes! I had back labor and it was a real -itch. I was surprised, though. Even with the epidural, I still felt major burning in my hip with each contraction. Epidurals certainly don't prevent you from feeling any pain. They just curb it!
21. How much did your child weigh? 5 pounds, 15 oz. He just takes after my husband and his family. (it was annoying at first, though, because people were constantly remarking about how small he was, and many even asked me if I had smoked during the pregnancy to cause low birth weight. Friggin morons)

22. What did you name him/her? Aidan Patrick. We wanted an Irish name.

23. How old is your first born today? Almost 4 and a half!

ABCs of Homemaking Meme

Thanks to Vicki for this one. :) And as she said, "who wrote this meme, my Great-Grandmother (God rest her soul)?".
Without further ado...

Aprons - Y/N? If yes, what does your favorite look like?
I don't own an apron. Ironically, both of my boys do.

Baking- Favorite thing to bake?
Brownies. I can never resist licking the batter.

Clothes line - Y/N ?
Never! I suppose maybe in times of emergency or absolute desperation, but I don't find it appealing to show my laundry to all my neighbors.

Donuts - Have you ever made them?
Actually yes. My mom makes awesome homemade donuts, and I remember making them with her.

Everyday - One homemaking thing you do everyday.
Laundry.

Freezer - Do you use a deep freeze?
No, but I want one.

Garbage Disposer Y/N?
Prefer it, but our current place does not have one.

Handbook - What's your favorite homemaking resource
Different blogs? Or my mother?

Ironing - Love it or Hate it?
HATE it. Rarely do it.

Junk Drawer - Y/N? If yes, where is it?
Way too many. I dream of organization.

Kitchen - color & decorating scheme.
Right now outdated crap our landlord chose, reflecting of the 80's. I'd prefer a brighter kitchen of yellow paint with maybe some white cupboards.

Love - what is your favorite part of homemaking?
My family that fills the home.

Mop - Y/N?
Yes, though not as frequently as I should. Swiffer all the way!

Nylons, machine or hand wash?
Neither. I rarely wear them, so I toss them when I need to either wash them or wear them next.

Oven - Do you use the window or open the oven to check?
Open the oven.

Pizza - what do you put on yours?
Right now my favorite is the Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ from Vito's. Other than that, cheese & pepperoni.

Quiet - what do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment?
Watch one of the many shows stored in my dvr, waste time online, plan menus or grocery lists.

Recipe Card Box - Y/N?
I store things online.

Style of house - what style is your house?
Right now a 2-story townhouse-lower half is brick, siding on top.

Tablecloths and napkins?
Inexpensive tablecloth, paper towels for napkins.

Under the kitchen sink - organized or toxic wasteland?
Organized.

Vacuum - how many times per week?
At least once a day!

Wash - how many loads of laundry do you do per week?
1-2 a day.

X's - Do you keep a daily list of things to do that you cross off?
I have the Motivated Moms planner. When I actually print it off, it goes on my fridge and I cross things off. I find that to be satisfying.

Yard - Who does what?
Right now the landlord, but I enjoy cutting the grass. Pulling weeds...nope.

ZZZ's - What is your last homemaking task for the day before going to bed?
Putting clothes into the dryer and starting the dishwasher.

If you play along, let me know!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

This meme was fitting, so I thought "why not?".
Join in!

Saturday 9: Happy Labor Day Meme
1. What are you doing special this weekend for Labor Day?
Not much. Going to Mass tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., grilling out turkey dogs and enjoying the time relaxing. Blowing bubbles-caught some on clearance for 10 CENTS at Giant Eagle. ;)
We also need to clean and de-clutter.
Monday we'll be doing a family bike ride and picnic.

2. What was your best vacation this past summer?
It's a tie: Going up to northern Michigan where my dh's grandparents' cabin is; Also when my sister and her family came to visit in June.

3. Did you do anything special for the 4th of July?
Similar to Labor Day plans: went for a family bike ride and enjoyed a picnic at a park.

4. What did you do special for Memorial Day?
Went to our city's parade, grilled out, brought out the sandbox, and went to a park.

5. How was the weather? Tell us where you live and how the weather was as compared to summers past.
Too hot and humid! Not enough rain. I'm in the Midwest. It seems that we had more rain in summers past.

6. Did you discover a new favorite summer drink?
Diet Pepsi/Coke. I converted to Diet this summer.

7. Did you enjoy this summer’s Olympics?
Didn't watch the Olympics.

8. I am from New England (Rhode Island). Lobster rules supreme in the summer. Is lobster part of your summer ritual?
No. Grilling out burgers is, though. :)

9. What was the best single day of your summer?
This is a tough one! Probably when we were up north-the day we went to the beach. The four of us were together all day, the kids were great, we were surrounded by beautiful scenery...it was nearly perfect.

Ten on Tuesday

This week's topic: 10 Things You Didn't Like About School
While I usually enjoyed school, there were, of course, things I did not enjoy. I'm including all grades here.1. Getting up early.
2. School food. Cafeteria food is just nasty, and mostly unhealthy, too. The college "caf" was the worst!
3. Weekend homework. Weekends are for relaxing and taking a break. No homework!
4. Having to ask permission to go to the bathroom.
5. Speech class. I always got so nervous and hated people watching me give a speech!
6. P.E. I was never very athletic/sports-minded. I was in shape from dancing, but when it came time for sports, I felt so stupid.

7. Quiet hours in the dorm. I thought starting at 11:00 p.m. was a little too early for college.
8. EXAM HOURS in the dorm. Even worse. You couldn't even sneeze without an RA saying something.
9. Going to an out-of-state college, most of my friends lived far away from my home. I hated that. I missed my friends every break!
10.
Cliques. Always have, probably always will hate the cliques. High school was the worst, but college offered its share, too.

Take5Tuesday

Boredom+Writer's Block=Me trying a new meme (is there actually one left I haven't tried?!)

The usual host has not yet posted for today, so I'm choosing my own.

5 Things I Have Yet To Do in July: (with one week remaining)
1. Go up north for a family vacation/reunion
2. Visit Patrick's great-grandmother's grave, especially since we missed her funeral.
3. Enjoy Aidan's final tee-ball game! (July 30th, 7:30 p.m.)
4. Begin the Bible study that Crystal is blogging about (thanks again for the book!)
5. Menu Plan for August, getting my booty back on track with Weight Watchers (possibly to be done on the car ride for our trip).

What are your 5 things?

Monday Meme

Not much else to blog about right now. I saw this on Vicki's blog-thanks, Vicki.
It's doing well for my Monday boredom. ;)

1. What food does your best friend not like?
Patrick doesn't like most seafood. Sue isn't a fan of guacamole.

2. What is your favorite cookbook?
The Betty Crocker Healthy New Choices.

3. Are you more of a sushi person or a lamb person?
I don't like lamb, so I'll say sushi. However, it'd have to be veggie sushi, because I don't like seafood.

4. Given a choice of something fried and salty or something baked and sweet, what would you choose?
Most likely something baked & sweet. I'm a sucker for carbs. :(

5. Do you buy whole chickens and boil them and pick the meat off or does that gross you out?
I have never bought a whole chicken & cooked it. If we have chicken, I buy the boneless skinless breasts.

6. How do you feel about butter, sour cream, cream cheese, and half and half?
I'm OK with them. It depends on what they accompany.

7. (Skip this question if you are a vegetarian.) If you are a carnivore, would you be willing to hunt or butcher your meat? Or to watch someone do that for you or would you rather not think of it? Or are you grateful for the animal who gave its life to sustain your life?
I'll have to quote Vicki here, since I feel the same way. "I can't eat an animal that looks remotely like its original form. If I had to hunt and/or butcher I'd end up a vegetarian. Or a carbetarian."

8. What is the most exotic ingredient or spice in your cupboard?
Tough call. We like the Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb.

9. What is your favorite vegetable?
Fresh steamed broccoli.

10. What is your favorite fruit?
Avocado.

Play along if you wish! Let me know if you do. :)

I've Got the Boogie Fever

Apparently.
Why can't I take just one of these darn quizzes? Sheesh.

You Are Disco Dancing

You are very energetic and lively. You could dance all night.

Fun loving and social, you like dancing best when everyone in the room is dancing.

You love to dance to anything, and it's hard to stop once you start.

You love dancing in a crowd. And no matter how big the crowd, all eyes are usually on you.

I do love dancing along w/ others. Wedding receptions are always fun, parties, etc. Part of what I miss most from college is always having others to dance with. The days of living in the girls' dorms presented endless opportunities to dance like no one was watching (even though people were;).

Which dance are you?

The Fireworks Test

Hmmm...I can't say I fully agree, but who am I to knock the psychological truths behind these blogging quizzes? ;)

What Your These Fireworks Say About You

You are focused, single minded, and intense.

You don't let others see your intensity often, and when they do, they are quite surprised.

You burn brightly, but you also burn steadily.

You have the endurance to get the one thing you desire most.

H/t: Vicki

6 Random Things

I was tagged twice to do this one-thanks Andrea and Crystal!

Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself (things/habits/quirks).
4. Name six of your favorite blogs.
5. Send an email/comment on their blog letting them know they have been tagged.

1. I like the smell of white-out, gasoline, & nail polish, but not permanent markers.
2. I hate cutting my toe nails. I stink at it. I bug the crap out of my husband until he does it.
3. I only like drinking beer out of a glass bottle. I prefer LaBatt Blue and Newcastle.
4. One of my life fantasies is to live out West, like Washington State. I'd love the weather and scenery, and I dream of having a spacious house on a lake, with a boat of our own. Yes, Washington State or Colorado.
5. I only read 3 of the comics on a regular basis: Dennis the Menace, Family Circus, and Baby Blues.
6. I love corny jokes. And I seriously think they're hilarious. I never get sick of them.
Are you ready? I'll share some of my favorites:

~What do you call a cow without legs?
(ground beef)

~What do you call a cow with only 3 legs?
(lean beef)

~Did you have any dreams last night?
Well, last night I dreamed I was a muffler, and I woke up exhausted.

~There are 3 types of people in this world: those that can count, and those that can't.

Tag time: Many of the blogs I read have already been tagged, so count yourself tagged if not. ;)
I'd like to see Mediocre Girl do this one, along with Greg, Mary, and Bethany.

TAG! (Meme Time)

Thanks, Jen, for the tag. Not much effort has gone into my blog this week, so this was a good start. :)

The rules are:
1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

What I was doing 10 years ago: I was almost 18, attending St. Joseph's Catholic High School, and getting ready for graduation. I was working as a hostess at Rafferty's Restaurant, dating the same guy since I was 16, and coming to terms with going to college out of state. I was very thin. ;) This time of year, to be exact, I was getting ready for the Prom. In fact, I wound up going with one of Jen's cute friends, and she came along as the date of one of my classmate's.

Five things on my To Do List today:
1. Pick up a green pepper for my dinner recipe
2. Go to our mom&tot rosary/play group (done!)
3. Swap out the Ford F-150 (monster truck) for our van, now newly maintained. (at the low cost of $1700)
4. Laundry
5. Plan next week's menu plan

Snacks I enjoy: A current favorite is chickpeas. I buy the canned Bush's. Rinse them, then eat them straight like that. Love them! I also like the Kashi cookies, and yogurt. Fruit, too.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire: (no particular order here)
Pay off all debt, especially our student loans.
Build a Victorian-style house with maybe 2-3 acres. (wrap-around porch)
Set up trust funds and college funds for our boys
Set up trust funds or special savings for our godchildren
Invest
Donate
Set up special savings for my brother who is mentally ill

Three of my bad habits:
1. Biting my nails
2. Ignoring my prayer life
3. Procrastinating in responding to people-e-mail, snail mail, etc.

Five places I have lived:
1. Michigan, where I was born. (with my parents and siblings)
2. South Carolina-moved there with my parents and brother in 1991
3. Ohio-4 years during college
4. Different part of MI when I was teaching and newlyweds
5. Austria-only for a semester in 1999, but it still counts. :)

Five jobs I’ve had:
1. Babysitting
2. Hostess
3. Server in restaurant
4. Assistant at an insurance company one semester in college
5. Tutor

People I want to know more about (a nice way of saying TAG!):

Friday Fun: Interview Me

Remember my post about being embarrassed with forgetting my blog-e-mail account info?
Well, one of those "lost" e-mails was part of a meme-the interview me meme. I first saw it at Steph's blog, commenting I'd like to play along. Sheesh. That was back in October, and I'm posting it just now! Sometimes I stink, what can I say. It's really only 5 months late. ;)

Thanks to Steph for ever-offering blogging fun. And, of course, for taking the time to send me the questions.

1. What was one of the first blogs you ever read?
Christine (Welcome to My Brain), Thoughts of a Regular Guy, and The Falcon's Nest. No clue which one was actually first.

2. Were you a cheerleader? If not, did you want to be?
I was never a cheerleader. I was always in dance, and I sort of viewed cheerleaders as failed dancers. (no offense to any former cheerleaders!) I had my short period of wanting to be one-until I started dancing.

3. If I were to come to your house for dinner, what dessert would you make for me and what would we do?
I'm a chocoholic, so probably something with chocolate. If you're vegan, though, I'd have to be creative and search away!
What would we do? If you enjoy games, maybe play some games or cards. Otherwise, I also prefer just getting to chat and enjoy a hot drink or adult beverage :)

4. You just won $500 and you have to spend it on yourself at one store. Where would it be?
Oh...one store? That's hard. I need so many things! LOL I think I'll go with Target. Stuff for the home, personal things, decent clothes... If I didn't need clothes, maybe Pottery Barn.

5. What is your favorite childhood vacation memory?
Another hard one! Today I'll go with a family trip to Mackinac Island. Being the youngest of 8, it wasn't typical for our entire family to go on vacation together. This trip, though, we did. It was great. I think it was during the summer, we camped, and I remember renting bikes and biking around the island, inhaling the sweet, addictive smell of fudge and waffle cones. :) I also remember one of my sisters having a radio or walk-man with them, and hearing a New Kids on the Block song. Being the cool older sisters they were, they turned down NKOTB for some Madonna. ;) I had to have been maybe 7 or 8 years old at the time.

Now it's your turn. If you want to be interviewed, leave me a comment including the words "Interview me." I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions. If you don't have a valid email address on your blog, please provide one. You will update your blog with a post containing your answers to the questions. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Aloha Friday

I've done every other blog meme around, so why not try this one? ;) I admit I was driven to post this one because of the "Aloha" thing. Ever since we went to Hawaii in 2003, I've been hooked. WONDERFUL place, Hawaii is! One day we'll go back.

So I'm giving this a shot. We'll see if it turns into a weekly thing or not."In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing heavy or too thought-provoking."

So my question is:
Where is one place you'd love to travel to & visit, that you have never been before?

I'd love to go to New England, particularly Martha's Vineyard. Hopefully one year we can go there for our anniversary. :)

Visit the Aloha Friday headquarters here. As they say in Hawaii, Mahalo!

TAGGED! Middle Name Facts

Thanks to Vicki for the tag. :)

Here are the rules:
1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).
3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.
4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details.)
