Who is Your Idol this Season?

 Thanks to Facebook, I saw who went home last night before being able to finish watching Idol myself.

I am so disappointed! Tim Urban, while not always stellar, is quite good. And he has drastically improved in the last 2 weeks.
Aside from that, I love his personality. He gives off such a happy, peaceful vibe, and I love that he comes from a large family. I think it contributes to his ability to go with the flow so well.
Plus, I admit...he is CUTE. That smile?! Come on! He's a little "dreamy" looking. Even if I am 10 years older than him. (sigh)

Tim is one of my idols for the season, even though I've never felt he'd be THE winner. (Tim, you're still a winner, though!)

I wanna break it down now:

Aaron Kelly: great talent, awesome person, but getting boring, in my opinion. Such a sweet, innocent-seeming guy, but for me, enough slow songs! He has that David Archuletta-factor to him.

Casey James: I think he should have gone home long ago. While I think he's good, I've never seen the hype over this guy. And sorry, I think he resembles Bucky. Remember him?

Casey sounds the same every single song, every week.

Big Mike: Love this guy...personality. Talented, yes, but no chance of winning. Sorry, Mike! Great smile, though. :) I would love to hear him belt out more Ray Charles or James Brown. See what he's really got.

Siobhan: Obvious talent, quirky talent. But I don't like her. She's too odd for me type, and the screaming-singing she does isn't enjoyable EVERY song. Too Steven Tyler for me. I hope she goes home next week.

Lee: excellent. His sound is one I would not get sick of, I'd buy the CD, and it helps that he's good looking. He seems humble and grateful, and that is like the cherry on top. I hope to see him in the finale. He will succeed regardless, and it won't be any one-hit wonder. He will continue to rock.

Speaking of the finale...Crystal. My money is on her winning this season. I've felt that for weeks now. She is obviously the most talented. And it is pretty cool she's from the area where we live. When they showed areas from her home a few weeks back, one of the bars they showed is walking distance to our church. So cool! When they send the top 3 home and give out "key to the cities", bla bla bla...I would really love to take Aidan and go cheer her on. She's not my personal favorite for music style all the time, but I think she is hands down the most talented and most genuine.

Am I the Only One?

Am I the only one that thinks Amanda needs to go home? (and I've thought it for the last, uh, two weeks!). Not that she isn't talented, but I don't think her talent matches up to what it takes. To me, it always sounds like she's screaming. Same sound, no matter what the song. And I like a wide variety of music, including some Joplin. So I'm thinking it's not the song choice...
I just can't stand her. I have nicknamed her skunk-combine the hair with the fact I think her singing more or less stinks, and I think you get skunk.

On a better note, I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Brooke. The last two weeks I think she's been amazing! I want each of the songs she sang, her version. She seems so "real" and what-you-see-is-what-you-get. I like that about a person.

Carly, of course-love her. (Come on, she's from Ireland!). She is quite talented, and I loved Come Together this week. Great choice.

One person I've changed my mind about is Syesha. I liked her at first, especially during Hollywood round, but not so much any more. While I still feel she is very talented, I'm getting the impression she is a little cocky, over-confident, and, well, maybe full of herself. I'd like to be wrong.

I'm glad David Hernandez was the one to leave tonight and not Kristy Lee. I truly feel she is much more talented than we've seen, and that she's gotten credit for.

As for who I want to win, at this point-can't say yet. I really like Brooke, Chikezie really improved...I need more time.

I've Been Absent; Random Updates

At least from blogging. (though I've tried to stay up on reading others' posts!;)

I was pretty much sick all week. You know, the basic cold--sore throat--fever-bug.
That mostly kept me away from the computer, but we were also in Michigan for two days for my dh's work conference. Know what's cool? He went to the Detroit Auto Show, and he saw Sandra Bullock there! He was pretty close to her, too, but never got to meet her or anything. Still, isn't that cool? I like most of her movies. Actually, we just watched Premonition last week. (it was OK. I didn't care for the ending too much)

Sick, work in MI, Sandra Bullock...what else?

Oh! Guess what? Aidan is officially registered for preschool! PRESCHOOL! Starting after Labor Day, he'll be going to preschool Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 12:30-3:00. I find it to be bittersweet. I know he'll love it and needs the interaction with other kids, but I just can't believe he's already almost FOUR and my full-time days with him are limited. Heck, after this year he'll be in kindergarten! I am so not ready for that. *sigh*
I've always had mixed feelings regarding what is best for his schooling, but dh and I agree that everything is flexible. If this doesn't seem to be in his best interest, we either place him in a different school or home school. Nothing is concrete. For what it's worth, though, we toured and spoke with several staff members, and I feel very comfortable with where he'll be going. I was judging it as both a parent & teacher. On both levels, I felt good about it. We'll wait & see!

What else have I been holding out on you guys?
I finally went back to Weight Watchers. I felt for sure I had gained nearly 5 pounds back over the holidays, but much to my pleasant surprise, I lost 1.2 at weigh in! That made me so happy. Plus I am 3 weeks away now from becoming a lifetime member!

Brennan crawls up a storm every chance he gets, and he pulls to standing on everything. He's desperately trying to walk. What does that result in? You got it-bumps & bruises. Poor kid. He swings around in his crib like a monkey. He's still cute, though. And a little odd. Why odd? Because the boy loves prunes. I mean loves them. At least it keeps things moving, if you know what I mean. AND...he turned 9 months old yesterday! NINE months already!

I have yet to make some of my own baby food. I intended to last week (just got the blender for Christmas), but then I was sick, so never did. It's on my list of things to do tomorrow. We'll see how it goes! Oh, but Brennan tried avocado, and he liked it. It felt nice giving him fresh, straight food, rather than something that had been sitting in a jar.

I suppose that's it. Tonight I'm going to watch the finale of The Amazing Race. If you're familiar, I'm rooting for TK & Rachel, then the father/daughter team. I hope the Grandpa/grandson team comes in last. I also started watching American Idol this past week. I prefer it when it's down to the top 12, but some of these auditions are so enjoyable. And pathetic. Painful, even. Lastly for TV, LOST is coming back soon! It looks so good. Can't wait.

That's it for real this time. I hope to not be sick any more, and get back to my normal routine.
