Why are Thursdays always the best tv night?
Back in the day ER was on Thursdays, as was Friends. Even growing up I'm pretty sure Knots Landing was on Thursdays. Same with tonight's shows.
This is good, except that some of my shows have been canceled (so upset about Medium and The Closer!), and now nearly EVERYTHING I watch is coming on Thursdays. Over-time for my dvr!
I'm not a huge couch potato, but I love my tv shows. I can live without them, yes, but back when Pat started working a 2nd job, then grad school, it's WHAT I had in the evenings.
He'd be gone, kids were in bed, I'd fold laundry, and with no other person around, I got tuned into the tv.
So tonight I'm really looking forward to our shows coming on:
-The Office (losing interest here, though)
-Parks & Rec
-30 Rock
-Outsourced
-Grey's Anatomy
-Private Practice (losing interest in this one, too. Addison really annoys me)
-BONES! I am so happy Bones returns tonight
-Royal Pains (loved this during the summer)
All those shows, ONE night.
When I don't have a show to watch each day, it bums me out. It's not like I need an intervention here, but when I sit down for my lunch and Brennan is in quiet time, I like a good show to watch. It's a good thing shows are resuming!
Other nights I also like to record Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Minds. CSI:NY, too. If I'm REALLY desperate I'll watch CSI: Miami, but usually can't do CSI: Vegas. Too much bad acting.
I'll check out American Idol, too.
I'm looking forward to tonight. :)
Have any of your shows been canceled? What are you watching this season?

Bummer
George has always been one of my favorites. I hate to see him go. I'm guessing we won't see anything happen between him & Lexi. :(

Review: DWTS Premier
I'm glad the show is back. Overall I thought last night's premier was pretty entertaining. I'm feeling that 3 nights a week will be too much, so I'm eager for it to be just twice a week. Now for the nitty-gritty:
Favorite couple from last night was Lance and Lacey. Hands down! That boy can move, and I was pretty impressed with Lacey's debut. Seeing how talented she is made me irked to think of all the criticism she gained before the show even started. She cemented her place, in my opinion. A pleasant surprise. I really hope to see them make it to the finals.
Most annoying: Cloris. Ok, I'm not picking on her because she's old. I know being 82, that took courage just to get out there. However, I feel like being 82, she should know some tact by now, and I felt embarrassed for her by her actions when the judges were speaking. And poor Corky Ballas. The man has amazing talent, and he's stuck with Cloris, who clearly won't make it to the finals. I would have loved to see Corky with someone with more potential. After all, Corky trained Mark, Julianne, and Derek...look at how awesome they are.
I did like Len's comment to Cloris about minding her cleavage, though. That was a good chuckle.
Susan Lucci was a disappointment. I didn't expect much from her, but I at least expected her to be a little more fluid in her movements. She was so stiff. Yuck. Something about her is quite annoying, too.
Toni Braxton was pretty good. I just hope she doesn't continue to mention her heart condition and a crutch and sympathy votes. By now, everyone knows what it entails to be on this show. She knows her health status. If she can't handle it, don't come on DWTS. Just don't make us listen to you mention it every single week for sympathy votes.
The rest didn't stick out to me too much. I am very curious who will go home tonight, and I'm equally surprised to learn they're doing two dances the first week.
Oh yeah, last thing! Carrie-Ann's hair looks much darker this season than before. I have to say, I don't like it. It seems to make her look too old for herself, more haggard or something. Honestly, at one point she kind of looked like Shannen Doherty. I hope she lightens up a bit. ;)

It's 'National Stay at Home Week'
It's National Stay at Home Week, as ABC has declared it. Pretty clever, right? ;)It's also known as Premier Week. Finally! For the couch-potato-in-us, it's an exciting week. DVRs will be kicked into full gear (if you don't have a dvr, get one!). Fall is officially here, and the TV schedule confirms it.
This is what my TV week looks like:
Monday (tonight): Dancing with the Stars!!!
Can't wait. I'm hopeful of the new professionals, and keeping my fingers crossed that Susan Lucci doesn't last too long. Since Pat will be in class tonight, I'm telling Aidan that if he takes a nap, he can stay up to watch it with me. I need a DWTS buddy!
Catch it at 8:00 on ABC.
Tuesday: Law & Order SVU premiers, 10:00 NBC.
Without a Trace also premiers, 10:00 CBS.
Thursday: THE OFFICE!!!! Probably the most anticipated show to return. 9:00 on NBC. (read some spoilers here)
Grey's Anatomy also returns, 9:00 ABC. Double duty for my dvr! These 2 shows rank in my top favorites. You can read Grey's spoilers & see clips here.
I'll probably be posting after some of these premiers to chat about the shows. I'm hoping we're in for some good tv-watchin'!

I'm Kristi Yamaguchi
Hmm. Can't say I fully agree, but I'd like to think that I could give it my all the way she did.
After all, next to my family & chocolate, there is no other love for me than dancing!

Here It Is
Most of what my DVR will be recording this Fall.
I'm very ready for summer to be over with!
Not just for TV, of course, but it is something I am looking forward to: the return of the regular shows.
(Note: I don't just sit around watching TV. Thankfully we have the DVR, which allows us to watch more, when we can work it in;).
Dancing with the Stars: Returns Monday, September 22, 2008 @ 8:00 on ABC.
**The new cast will be announced August 25th!**

Private Practice: Returning Wednesday, October 1, 2008 @ 9:00 on ABC.

Which LOST Character are You?
My current quiz-taking is Vicki's fault. :)
You are Claire. You are a very kind and caring person. You're not the bravest on the island, but you will stand up for yourself when the need arises. Compared to the other survivors, you have a pretty clean past and you're open and honest about most things. It's a good thing, too - Turniphead needs you to be nurturing and caring in order for him to grow up and NOT become the antichrist. Luckily, Charlie seems more than happy to assist you.
Your polar opposite is: Sawyer.
You are similar to: Charlie and Sun.
Your Score: Claire
You scored 67% kindness, 34% courage, 28% seedy past, and 43% secretiveness!

"Don't talk to me about the baby. I'm sick of everyone telling me what to do."

Am I the Only One?
Am I the only one that thinks Amanda needs to go home? (and I've thought it for the last, uh, two weeks!). Not that she isn't talented, but I don't think her talent matches up to what it takes. To me, it always sounds like she's screaming. Same sound, no matter what the song. And I like a wide variety of music, including some Joplin. So I'm thinking it's not the song choice...I just can't stand her. I have nicknamed her skunk-combine the hair with the fact I think her singing more or less stinks, and I think you get skunk.
On a better note, I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Brooke. The last two weeks I think she's been amazing! I want each of the songs she sang, her version. She seems so "real" and what-you-see-is-what-you-get. I like that about a person.
Carly, of course-love her. (Come on, she's from Ireland!). She is quite talented, and I loved Come Together this week. Great choice.
One person I've changed my mind about is Syesha. I liked her at first, especially during Hollywood round, but not so much any more. While I still feel she is very talented, I'm getting the impression she is a little cocky, over-confident, and, well, maybe full of herself. I'd like to be wrong.
I'm glad David Hernandez was the one to leave tonight and not Kristy Lee. I truly feel she is much more talented than we've seen, and that she's gotten credit for.
As for who I want to win, at this point-can't say yet. I really like Brooke, Chikezie really improved...I need more time.
Do you already have one specific person in mind you'd like to see win this season of American Idol?

Are YOU Monk-ish?
Take the quiz to find out. :)My results: I am a little Monk-ish. You've got a few Monk-ish tendencies, but they're totally natural. You're more go-with-the-flow than grab-the-flow-and-redirect-it-so-it's-straight-and-symmetrical. Keep the delicate balance you've got between keeping order and embracing spontaneity and you'll be set. Mr. Monk may very well be envious of you!
Cool. In areas of organizing and cleaning, I wish I was more Monk-ish.
By the way, I thought last night's finale was excellent. Did you watch it?

Grey's Anatomy Vs. Private Practice

Spinoffs-good thing or bad thing?I have been really enjoying Private Practice, the spinoff of Grey's Anatomy. (Addison left Seattle Grace & headed to California, joining a private practice run by her former college colleagues). I still watch Grey's Anatomy, but I admit-I don't think it's as good as it was before Private Practice.
Without Addison & Burke, it seems, well, bla. Even with the (odd) addition of Lexie and senior citizen intern.
I was thinking about this after reading this article, which indicated that Private Practice is doing better than Grey's Anatomy. In my head I started driving myself crazy, trying to decide which show I do like better. I prefer the old Grey's Anatomy, but this new season I find to be disappointing, so far. You can't just eliminate two major characters and then never talk about them again. There's been no mention of Addison, and minor stuff on Burke. Am I wrong? (maybe I missed something)
For those of you who are fans of these shows-what do you think? Is Grey's falling apart? Will it last, or will Private Practice take over?
